James's Journey

Post Baltimore

Baltimore was a success! We received good news from the doctors, stating regression has not set in yet! The jumping and fidgeting he does when he’s excited? That’s completely normal, apparently! So that’s excited news for us. Keep those prayers and crossed fingers coming! They’re working! His speech is improving little by little as well. Since he started horse therapy, his confidence has sky-rocketed with wanting to climb and explore new things (like ladders, playgrounds, etc.)

We took a recent trip to the beach back in November and it was glorious. James and I are ready to go back! The only weird part about it is, after the hurricane, the beach was eroded and now the beach has a sort of “cliff” that's about 2 feet tall or so. James had fun regardless - mainly wanting me to catch him as he “jumped” off the cliff haha.

Our most recent adventures include taking him to the farm. The farm is where Cory grew up with lots and lots of land for us to ride the ATV around. We visit cows, horses and find new places to ride in the woods. The best part is visiting my in-law - it’s like a vacation when we visit them and the farm!

Other than that, not much to update. Still working on getting him qualified for Medicaid. He was approved for CAP/C so now we need to work on getting him Medicaid. I’ve connected with someone to help me navigate the craziness that is Medicaid (it’s insane!) so hopefully we’ll get that resolved soon! I’ll try and keep you updated…

OH! Side note: James’s ferritin levels (iron stores) are extremely low so we have started him on a liquid iron supplement. My dad and I both have low ferritin levels and apparently it can be genetic but that one can be easily fixed, thankfully. Getting his ferritin up should help with his fatigue as well as his restless sleeping. I am interested to see how much getting his ferritin levels up with affect him.

Life is just busy with the appointments, going back and forth to UNC while fighting insurance and making sure James has everything he needs throughout the day.

Much love from us all!
